Movie theaters have been closed for months now, but Marketplace Cinemas has a plan to return in the form of a drive-in.
Drive-in theaters, which allow social distancing and keep audience members separate from each other, have had a revival in the COVID-19 pandemic, with theaters such as the Eden Drive-In and Hound's Drive-In Theatre in Kings Mountain enjoying brisk business. The last local drive-in, the Bel-Air in Walkertown, closed in October 2000. Indoor movie theaters are currently banned.

The trading floor at the New York Stock Exchange is reopening on Tuesday after being closed for two months. Marketplace host Kai Ryssdal spoke with Stacey Cunningham, president of the New York Stock Exchange, about what’s been going on with the stock market.
“The stock market is not necessarily reflective of all elements of the economy,” Cunningham said. Indexes like the S&P 500 and Dow Jones Industrial Average only represent investor sentiment for a subset of companies. “That’s not capturing what some of the small and midsize businesses who aren’t part of those indexes are going through right now.”

Why stores are saying "hero bonus" instead of "hazard pay" - Marketplace
Throughout the COVID-19 crisis, major companies have refrained from using that label, which is typically used to describe extra pay for performing hazardous work or work involving physical hardship.
Kroger, country’s biggest supermarket chain, has been paying workers a $2-an-hour "hero bonus," which ends Saturday. In its place, the company has created a "thank you pay" program that will grant $400 to qualified full-time associates and $200 to qualified part-time associates. It's a plan that also applies to the Kroger subsidiaries Fred Meyer and Ralphs. Meanwhile, McDonald's and Albertsons are granting workers what they call "appreciation pay.”
New Colorado marketplace for PPE intended to help businesses restart
A volunteer-run initiative will offer businesses a place to buy personal protective equipment, like masks, for as reasonable a price as they’re likely to get during a pandemic.
Energize Colorado , a nonprofit organization started by private-sector volunteers on Gov. Jared Polis’ COVID-19 task forces, opened its online marketplace for protective equipment about two weeks ago. So far, they’ve received more than 400 orders.
Other volunteers from the business community are available as mentors for issues like dealing with mental health in the workplace and staying afloat during an economic downturn, said Brad Feld, chairman of Energize Colorado. They also have templates for different types of businesses to help work through how they can implement social distancing.
