Two-sided marketplaces are more than a smart business model. These platforms can democratize access and promote widespread economic inclusion in previously inaccessible markets. They have worked wonders in myriad verticals already — e.g., stock exchanges — and the world of digital asset liquidity may now be fertile ground for this business model.
Successful new platforms bring together buyers and sellers who would otherwise be unable to connect, creating entirely new value streams for sellers who capture more revenue. Meanwhile, buyers gain access to new capabilities, creating a win-win for everyone involved. A CoreSight research indicated that revenue of two-sided markets such as Airbnb, Fiverr, eBay and Uber could exceed $40 billion by 2022.

Turns out, the people who work at Facebook are fighting just as much as the rest of us -
Wood: And there are balloons all over that are, like, it’s your Facebook-aversary! It is a lovely place to be. And I wonder, now that you have people at home, [have they] sort of like snapped out of it a little bit? If you were watching Mark Zuckerberg on a screen instead of in a room with all of your friends and fellow believers, would it change your perspective a little bit?
Mac: Facebook has these internal surveys. One of the questions in there is, “Do you think Facebook is making the world a better place?” Right after the company did not take down the infamous "looting and shooting” posts from Donald Trump, you saw this 20-25 percentage-point drop. That is Facebook’s own data showing their employees are just not believing in that mission anymore, or at least this one incident caused them to not believe in that mission.
How to Search Facebook Marketplace Nationwide - Walkthrough Guide
You'll be pleased to know Facebook updated its Marketplace settings a couple of weeks ago allowing users to extend the site's search radius to 500 miles, up from the previous maximum of 100 miles. That means you can search a much wider area all at once—especially helpful if you're looking for something rare or specific.
The update also means you can cover massive amounts of search area with just a few keyboard swipes. There's still no official way to do a proper nationwide search, but with this new search area option, combing through the entire United States on Facebook Marketplace has never been easier. Here's how to do it.
How 2020 changed this new college grad's priorities - Marketplace
The Bureau of Labor Statistics on Friday released its monthly report on the state of the U.S. labor market. The government has its ways of looking at what's going on in the economy, and we have ours. One of them is a series called United S tates of Work , in which we found 10 people who form a representative sample of the labor force and asked how the economy was working for them. As the COVID-19 pandemic reshapes the labor market, we're continuing to follow these 10 people.

Do employees have a say in whether to go on payroll tax holiday? - Marketplace
That payroll tax holiday, that you probably aren't getting, technically went into effect Tuesday . A lot of employers aren't participating — at least not yet — in this Trump administration economic relief approach.
But what choice do employees have on whether or not they keep about 6% more of their paychecks? That's the tax money that normally goes to fund Social Security .
David Brancaccio: Nova, one reason I ask is because employees, as it currently stands, will be on the hook to all this cash back to the government in the spring and may not want a balloon payment hanging over their heads. So do they have a choice in the matter?
What's next for Campbell's soup after pandemic sales spike? - Marketplace
We've been reporting for months about how the pandemic is changing what we buy. One company at the forefront of that shift is Campbell Soup Co. The food giant reported a 17% jump in sales after the pandemic started. And this week, it reported a 12% jump in sales for the most recent quarter.
This is a company that's been struggling for years. But just because sales spiked during the lockdown, it’s not clear that the company’s fortunes are reversed forever.
Chico Marketplace employees react to reopening, some want the mall closed
The Chico Marketplace opened up indoor operations this week [Monday], and some mall employees are happy their back to work, but others think the mall should stay closed as cases rise in the area.
"The cases haven't gone down, so I think the mall should just stay closed for our safety," said one marketplace employee, who thinks the mall opening up was a mistake.

"I'm happy that the mall is open, only because it's good to get back to work. The only downside is," the employee said sadly.
