Police: Beware of new Facebook Marketplace scam

The scam involves people selling goods on Facebook Marketplace at a seemingly "amazing deal," according to the sheriff's office. When these scammers reportedly go to sell these items, they want the purchaser to use a third-party service, such as eBay or GoDaddy, to complete the purchase.

Officials warn if you see this happening, go to the site in question and see if the item in question is listed on that site. If not, they say it is most likely a scam.

Attivo solutions launch on McAfee marketplace

Attivo Networks is one of the first McAfee Security Innovation Alliance (SIA) partners to be included on the new McAfee MVISION Marketplace.

* * *

McAfee MVISION EDR prevents attackers from compromising an endpoint and the Attivo Endpoint Detection Net (EDN) suite prevents attackers from breaking out of an endpoint if they happen to get in.

The EDN suite complements MVISION EDR by detecting and protecting against active directory attacks, credential theft, and privilege escalation while reducing the attack surface by finding and remediating exposed credentials.

The agrarian roots of Pappy Van Winkle bourbon whiskey - Marketplace

Presidential election coverage focusing on islands of blue counties in a sea of red put America's urban-rural divide on display last week. But the division between urban and rural America goes back to the earliest days of U.S. history.

American whiskey actually came into being when the first stirrings of manifest destiny took hold of the American imagination and people began to move west, first to Pennsylvania and then filtering out from there. New York and Pennsylvania rye farmers birthed this national tradition. They were farmers who wanted to stay on their land. The history of American whiskey is tied to that quest, all the way back to the first drop that rolled off the first still in the New World.

California's Prop. 19 could spur home sales if passed - Marketplace

In 1978, an anti-tax crusader named Howard Jarvis led a taxpayer revolt in California. Facing rampant inflation and soaring property taxes, voters overwhelmingly adopted Proposition 13, which set property taxes at 1% of a home's purchase price and kept annual increases to no more than 2%.

"We have proven here in California that we the people, not the politicians, are still the boss," Jarvis said after the measure passed.

Since then, Proposition 13 has loomed so large over the state's finances and real estate market, voters have faced more than 30 ballot measures to change it. One of those attempts, Proposition 19, was on the ballot this week. Backed and bankrolled by the California Association of Realtors, the measure would allow people age 55 or older sell their homes and take their tax breaks with them, up to three times, among other changes. (As of publication, the outcome was still too close to call.)

Many things are taking place:

In some isolated rural areas, COVID-19 is hitting hard - Marketplace

The coronavirus made its mark first in densely populated parts of the United States. And after seven months, rural communities are seeing a rise in cases.

The 13,000 residents of Grundy County, Tennessee, are fairly isolated. Its scenic mountains are home to parks with names like Savage Gulf and Fiery Gizzard. Until recently, residents felt that distance protected them from COVID-19.

Grundy County has gone from basically no COVID-19 to seven or eight new cases a day — a per capita rate higher than Tennessee’s largest cities.
