A QAnon storefront in Winnetka?

The display, featuring a mannequin wearing a "Q" hat and wristbands promoting the baseless conspiracy theory, drew condemnation last year when it was put up at the Neopolitan Collection in Winnetka.

A north suburban clothing shop that installed a QAnon-themed window display last spring is owned by the wife of the CEO of @properties — the real estate firm that fired an agent who attended the "March To Save America" that devolved into a riot in the nation's capital.

Shop Ceramics and More at Rex Design's Costa Mesa Storefront

N ewport Beach resident Catherine Rex started Rex Design in 2016. Now her pieces are sold throughout the country and in local boutiques such as Daydream Surf Shop in Costa Mesa and restaurants including San Juan Capistrano's Mayfield, which is also home to Rex's mural. In September, Rex opened her first brick-and-mortar shop, which houses her studio as well as a small boutique in the front. Customers can either make an appointment to shop Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Novak buys State Street space leased to Old Navy from School of the Art Institute

The head of Novak Construction has added a prominent Loop storefront to his real estate holdings, paying nearly $25 million for a big retail space at the corner of State and Randolph streets.

A spokeswoman for the School of the Art Institute confirmed that Novak paid $24.5 million for the State Street property. That works out to $571 per square foot, a low price relative to those paid for other retail spaces in the neighborhood in the recent past.

The School of the Art Institute hired CBRE in May 2019 to sell the 162 N. State space and two other Loop storefronts it owns, one at 2 S. State St. and the other at 116 S. Michigan Ave. Investors showed the most interest in 162 N. State, said CBRE Senior Vice President Luke Molloy.

Table Talk: Partners expand Pit barbecue footprint with Clintonville storefront

Former Ohio State University football standouts Chimdi Chekwa and Bryant Browning, plus business partners D'Andre Martin and Mike Johnson, opened their newest Pit BBQ Grille on Jan. 23 at 4219 N. High St. in Columbus.

"People gotta eat," said Martin, whose team has been playing defense during the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic. "It slowed us down, but we had to adjust."
