Shaw's Marketplace in downtown Brownwood aims for mid-summer opening

Shaw's Marketplace in downtown Brownwood aims for mid-summer opening

The to-do list to finish Shaw's Marketplace in downtown Brownwood is getting shorter, and co-owner Matt McCrane said the hope is for a July Fourth opening.

Shaw's Marketplace, at 508 N. Center, will open in the facility that previously housed Shaw's Laundry. The building has been vacant since the laundry closed six years ago, and is undergoing extensive renovation to prepare it as the marketplace.

McCrane, his wife Megan, and McCrane's parents, Steven and Lori McCrane, are the co-owners of Shaw's Marketplace, which will open as a shopping and community market in Historic Downtown Brownwood, the Shaw's Marketplace Facebook page states.

Another day, another Facebook data leak - Marketplace

Lily Hay Newman: Yeah, as I was sort of toggling those off just now, I was really having to think back to make sure I had all my dates right, and years and numbers and everything, because there are a lot of similar situations that have come up at Facebook that, it just feels like there’s always something.

Meghan McCarty Carino: Because it’s not just that any one of these leaks might be superharmful, but sort of the cumulative effect when you add them all together, right?

A transparent foreclosure marketplace reveals hidden equity - HousingWire

Over the past five years, more than $1.2 billion in potential home equity has been uncovered for distressed homeowners facing foreclosure.

That $1.2 billion is the amount of surplus funds generated by foreclosure sales on the Auction.com platform between 2016 and 2020. Surplus funds are proceeds from a foreclosure sale to a third-party buyer that are above and beyond the total debt owed to the foreclosing lender.

"A foreclosure sale usually represents the last chance for a distressed homeowner to benefit from any equity in a property being foreclosed," said Ali Haralson , Auction.com president. "If a property reverts back to the foreclosing lender at the foreclosure sale and becomes real estate owned (REO), the distressed homeowner is not due any surplus proceeds from a subsequent sale of the REO property."
