The upsides to shopping with clients might surprise you

Shopping with clients can be a double-edged sword. When the client is a self-described design enthusiast, there's a chance that they're just looking for someone to approve their own aesthetic choices. But though falling into the "shopping buddy" bucket is a major point of frustration for many designers, it also provides ways to foster rich client relationships—and even turn shopping into a distinct revenue stream.

Since June 2020, Ontario-based designer and business consultant Claire Jefford has made $30,000 off of the service she calls Designer By Your Side, which she began in 2011. For $4,500, she offers a 20-hour package that allows clients to tap her expertise and ask questions as they please, from floor plans and layout ideas to selecting paint colors and ordering through vendors.

Lockdown Changed Irish Shopping And Cooking Behavior – Eurasia Review

Early 2020 lockdown boosted confidence in cooking and preparing healthier meals, and could offer teachable moments to promote healthier eating long term, says new research from Teagasc.

The study, based on an online survey of 651 adults in Ireland and published in the Irish Journal of Agricultural and Food Research , shows how the first pandemic lockdown in early to mid-2020 forced people to change their shopping and cooking habits.

The researchers found that Irish shoppers were more likely to head to the shop with a list during the first lockdown period, and plan out meals for the week ahead. Consumers also spent more time cooking at home and more time on meal preparation.

Ohio man allegedly loads shopping cart with 14 cases of beer, attempts to return them

CINCINNATI - Ohio police are looking for a man who allegedly stole 14 cases of Bud Light from a local Kroger store in Cincinnati on May 12 after attempting to return the unpaid-for items.

The Delhi Township Police Department said the man walked into the store, loaded up a shopping cart with 14 cases of beer and then attempted to return the items moments later without having first paid for them, claiming his wife "purchased the wrong beer."

Employees attempted to confirm the man’s claims, which angered the suspect, police said — prompting him to leave the store with the beer.

Police said moments after the man left the store with the beer, Kroger employees checked security footage to find that the suspect was, in fact, lying.

Store employees filed a police report and authorities say the suspect is still at large.
