The company has responded to scattered outages since the heat wave began on Wednesday, and has restored power to about 2,300 customers, Con Edison said in a release, adding about 35 of its 3.5 million customers were facing disruptions at present.

As of 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 12, DTE Energy reported 590,638 customers were still without power. Consumers Energy reported 4,973 outages affecting 236,994 people.
Both companies met the Michigan Public Service Commission's threshold for "catastrophic conditions" meaning more than 10% of customers were affected by power outages, according to Matt Helms, public information officer for the MPSC.

Over 17,000 customers without power across western Massachusetts due to storms | WWLP
(WWLP) – Thousands of residents in western Massachusetts are without power and significant damage is being reported as powerful storms move through the region early Thursday evening.
The Massachusetts Emergency Management Outage Map shows over 10,000 customers without power. Easthampton had the most reported outages with over 6,000 customers, followed by Southampton with more than 2,500 customers.
