NYC Officials Clear Another Storefront Illegally Housing Migrants

New York City officials have cleared another storefront that was illegally converted into housing for migrants. On Tuesday, February 27, 2024, officials gathered outside Sarr's Wholesale Furniture in the Queens borough of New York, where they found dozens of tenants ### in the storefront. This is the second time in a week that the city has cleared out an illegal conversion of this type, with the first occurring in the Bronx on Thursday, February 22, 2024.

According to the city Department of Buildings, they received reports of an illegal conversion at a two-story commercial building in the Fordham neighborhood of the Bronx on Wednesday, February 21, 2024. The building was found to be housing as many as 70 migrants, which is a violation of city housing codes.
