SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - While you're shopping at the Southern Hills Mall you might notice a storefront filled with robots.
Wednesday night, the First Tech Challenge team, called "Avengers Tech", showed off their competing robot.
Despite the challenges that comes with building a robot from the ground up, the students enjoy the process and sense of community they have cultivated.
"It's really rewarding because I've made new friends through this, like it feels like we're kind of a family now," said Avengers Tech member Lauren Massersmith. "Because even if it is a few times a week, it's such a process through those meetings and we just do so much together that it just feels like a community. And you have so much in common that you have a lot of similarities to build off of and just get closer."
Avengers Tech will compete in the state tournament, at the University of Iowa, at the end of February.
