Nestlé cooks up plans to make ecommerce 25% of sales by 2025

Nestlé S.A., one of the world's biggest food and beverage companies and a well-known consumer brand manufacturer, is doubling down on ecommerce.

Today, ecommerce, which includes direct-to-consumer and business-to-business-to-consumer (B2B2C) online sales, represents about 13% ($11.93 billion) of the company's total annual sales of $91.80 billion, Nestlé says.

An ecommerce platform provider for food service distributors raises new funding

An ecommerce services firm that aims to build market share in the food service distribution business just got a big boost from new investors to help them get there.

Pomegranate Technologies Inc., which operates UsePepper.com, has received $16 million in new working capital from Index Ventures which led the round with participation from Greylock, Imaginary Ventures, BoxGroup, Moving Capital and an individual investor.
