Xometry Inc., a digital manufacturing marketplace used by thousands of companies ranging from small machine shops to global manufacturers, has continued to ramp up its services during the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition to helping manufacturers configure new products like personal protective equipment, it has also been expanding how companies can place and finance online orders.
And there is much more to come, Xometry's executives say, thanks in part to a $75 infusion of venture capital it received last week, bringing its total funding to $193 million.

The latest report from the Census Bureau on income, poverty and health insurance coverage is out. The figures are for 2019, however, and, unfortunately, in this year of pandemic recession and tens of millions of people losing their jobs and income, last year's numbers are already out-of-date.
It's likely more people have fallen below the poverty line. And that matters, because the poverty line determines who's eligible for a whole lot of federal assistance programs.
Streaming TV marketplace gets another 'plus' platform | Ad Age
It's another "plus" streaming service. ViacomCBS will rename its CBS All Access platform Paramount+ in early 2021.
The move comes as the company expands content on the platform to incorporate more from its cable properties following the merger of Viacom and CBS last year. It also marks a move to expand into international markets. Paramount+ will debut in Australia, Latin America and the Nordics next year.
"Paramount is an iconic and storied brand beloved by consumers all over the world, and it is synonymous with quality, integrity and world-class storytelling," Bob Bakish, president and CEO, ViacomCBS, said in a statement. "With Paramount+, we're excited to establish one global streaming brand in the broad-pay segment that will draw on the sheer breadth and depth of the ViacomCBS portfolio to offer an extraordinary collection of content for everyone to enjoy."

Earlier this year , Amazon hired about 175,000 additional workers as stay-at-home orders sent shoppers online. Now the e-commerce giant is seeking to hire 100,000 more warehouse workers in the United States and Canada, and more than 30,000 corporate tech workers.
Those highly paid positions will be remote for now, with several thousand of them spread across the country near planned satellite offices in cities from San Diego to Phoenix, Dallas, Detroit and New York. The hiring plan strikes a contrast to the search for one big second headquarters, called HQ2, several years ago.

Kai Ryssdal: Tell me why, would you, you’re studying Black female entrepreneurs in Detroit specifically.
Courtney McCluney: Yes, a couple of reasons motivated us. One was that Black women have, over the last three or four years, been the fastest growing group of entrepreneurs in the U.S. So there are more of them starting businesses at higher rates, despite having disproportionate access to resources, including capital. And at the same time, a city like Detroit actually looks more like other cities across the world and in the U.S.
