Shopping for Fashion, Six Months On - The New York Times

Six months have passed since lockdown measures were put in place to stop the spread of the coronavirus, causing sales for the fashion and retail industries to plunge as stores closed for months on end. Come September, the majority of stores will have reopened, albeit with a slew of new safety measures in place and significantly lowered foot traffic.

Google Launches New Shopping Filter to Help Consumers Buy Locally – Footwear News

Google Shopping is one of the most popular platforms for consumers shopping online , with many shoppers beginning their purchase journey with a Google search. But as consumer preferences skew toward supporting local and independent businesses, Google has updated its Shopping function to allow for greater filtering and more relevant search results.

The addition of a “Nearby” filter on the Google Shopping results page is designed to highlight the retail options within a specific radius of the user’s location . Alternatively, shoppers can add the words “near me” to their search, in order to automatically pull up the results that are available in their area. When combined with the “Discover” feature, which spotlights smaller retailers, this can be used to locate local businesses.

Despite Upper Arlington City Council’s rejection last week of his appeal to redevelop the Golden Bear Shopping Center, the man behind the project said he’s committed to the site and is exploring options to move forward.

Council voted Sept. 16 uphold the Upper Arlington Board of Zoning and Planning’s 6-1 rejection of redevelopment plans for the Golden Bear Shopping Center, denying Arcadia Development of Ohio LLC’s appeal of BZAP’s June 15 decision.

Woman's 'crazy' shopping hack sets social media ablaze: 'That gives me

The only thing worse than grocery shopping is the process of getting those groceries home to your kitchen. We'll take whatever we can get to make the whole experience more tolerable.

TikTok user visionsofmatt shared a video of his wife's grocery store hack, but unfortunately for us, it seems to be a bit more annoying than it is useful.

The footage shows her transferring all of her recent purchases from a shopping cart to a car, and there's not a bag in sight — plastic or otherwise.

* * *

For a local jeweler, trying to determine what the holiday season will be like for her business is a complete unknown.

While Colleen Interval, owner/partner of C&J Jewelry, Washington, is not ready to flip a coin to decide which way it may go, she has no idea what to expect.

"I think it's going to be a tough Christmas," Interval said. "It doesn't look like the people will get the stimulus checks. They have a lot of bills to pay and jewelry is probably the last thing they will be thinking to buy. It's more of a luxury.

Smarter shopping is a giant step toward healthier eating | Wellness | timesnews.net

You might say there are two types of at-home cooks: the ones who can tell you on Monday what they're making on Thursday night, and the ones who decide what's for dinner tonight while staring into the fridge.

Sketching out your meals in advance makes it easy to look ahead in the week and see what dressing you can mix up or what veggies might need chopping when you've got a few minutes of downtime during a cooking session.

Planning meals might mean you buy only ingredients you'll actually use. A strategically stocked pantry means fewer trips to the grocery store and never being left high and dry when an ambitious cooking project falls flat.
