Dunwoody’s Perimeter Marketplace development gets $2.9M tax break - Reporter Newspapers

The Dunwoody Development Authority granted a tax break worth up to $2.9 million to a retail development that has drawn some criticism from residents after developers drained a stormwater management pond on the property popular with geese and other wildlife.

The development authority approved the tax abatement, which runs for 10 years, for Branch Properties' Perimeter Marketplace in the form of a bond resolution during its Sept. 17 meeting. That bond must be validated by the DeKalb County Superior Court before it becomes official, which will most likely take place in mid-October, city Economic Development Director Michael Starling said.

What Does 'Integrity' Really Mean In Today's Marketplace?

Integrity, it's been said, is not something to show off to others. It's what you should be doing even when nobody's looking. Integrity is the choice between what's convenient and what's right.

Along with quality, accountability and trust, "integrity" is one of the most common words you'll find on corporate values statements. If you listen carefully, you can almost hear the John Philip Sousa music playing in the background.

But the actual practice of integrity requires much more than high-sounding speeches by the CEO and colorful posters in the company cafeteria. For evidence, just check out the companies that get exposed by whistleblowers. Or skewered by the media. Or boycotted by customers. Or dumped by investors. Or protested by their own employees.

In California, big business is preventing "good fire" - Marketplace

While the West Coast faces record-breaking wildfires, ecologists are once again touting the importance of “good fire” — prescribed burns or naturally occurring fire far from homes and communities. Experts say these fires help clear the forests of fuel that create massive fires like we’re seeing today. For decades, the state of California has mandated extinguishing most fires, whether or not they could help prevent future disasters.

Molly Wood: You spoke with all these experts who have been advocating for good fire for prescribed burns for decades. And nobody disagrees, right? You found that there is no scientific disagreement that this is the way to prevent megafires. So how come it never happens?

‘Tenet’ Rises To $36M+ In Domestic Marketplace Still Fractured By Pandemic –

If you’re a glass-half-filled type of person, well, then yes, what exhibition is going through right now is arguably better than when all the big circuits were closed over the past six months; unless they’re seeing no foot traffic at all, and the lights are left on. Some say you can’t bring Pre-COVID perceptions of the box office to a marketplace that’s been greatly impacted by the pandemic. That might be true, but business is still bad.

Warner Bros., which is still hiding box office figures from distributors in ComScore, has finally reported the fourth domestic weekend for Tenet   (3rd weekend U.S.) and the 3-day clocked $4.7M, -30% from last weekend’s $6.7M, in a nation where only 74% of all movie theaters are open (based on total grossing capacity), with hard tops still closed in Los Angeles, New York City, and San Francisco. Again, great on Warner Bros.

The Middle East is a growing marketplace, not just a war zone - Atlantic Council

For the casual observer, the seemingly endless negative stories about the Middle East are reasons enough to avoid investing in the region. But a value investor knows that this can be the best time to buy.

The United States has built strong relationships in the Middle East through security, economic, and political engagement over the past decades. In turn, most regional governments are reliable allies and their people have a fondness for American innovation, creativity, and ingenuity.
