Making Customers Successful Starts With Holding Them Accountable

Any parent will confirm that, despite often vigorous protests to the contrary, children actually want to be held accountable. Clear rules and boundaries governing how to operate in a complicated world are welcomed by those without the experience to navigate on their own.

There's an important insight in this often familiar role that you can also apply to how you manage your prospect and customer relationships.

I don't mean this to sound patronizing or to conflate relationships that have wholly different power and trust dynamics — but there's a surprising amount in common in these radically disparate roles. And understanding that, on some level, customers often want to be held accountable can be a powerful, mobilizing realization for anyone in a revenue-generating or customer-facing role.

While you're here, how about this:

Want a better brand identity? Build a community with your customers

In August 1988, a Finnish scientist named Jarkko Oikarinen created a software tool. The goal of the tool was for people to write real-time messages to each other over the internet. The tool's name was Internet Relay Chat (IRC).

Many reading this probably aren't familiar with IRC, but it created the framework for tools such as AIM, ICQ and now Slack. The primary goal of IRC was to bring communities together. Thirty years later, software tools are still trying to figure out how to do that.

Milpitas Trader Joe's opens doors to customers

MILPITAS — Trader Joe's has opened its doors in Milpitas to the delight of locals who for years have pleaded with the retailer to open a location in the South Bay city.

The newest Bay Area Trader Joe's, store number 229, is located at 1306 Great Mall Parkway, at the base of the newly completed Turing residential mixed-use building off Great Mall Parkway and McCandless Drive.

Before the store even opened at 8 a.m., some eager folks had lined up with camping chairs outside to wait, according to Alexis Walsh, a regional manager for Trader Joe's in the San Jose metro area.

The centralized exchange (cex), Coinbase Pro announced on Thursday that network fees will now be passed down directly to their customers.
