The sheer volume of data that we're working with today would be impossible to leverage without help. Studies say we're producing 2.5 quintillion bytes of data every day. Analytics are how we transform meaningless streams of information into valuable actions.

Data analytics facilitates more accurate project costs, schedules | Construction Dive
One of the primary reasons experts cite for why construction lags in tech adoption is a lack of robust data collection and analysis. Especially with pandemic-related shutdowns and business uncertainty, contractors need to make informed, data-based decisions.
During a recent webinar sponsored by ProNovos, a construction management and analytics platform, construction and data experts discussed how contractors can get started using analytics on current projects, and how to leverage older project data as well.
Reproducibility in Data Analytics Under Fire in Stanford Report
Armed with the same data and told to test the same hypotheses, dozens of independent researchers instead came to widely different conclusions using a variety of analytics techniques, according to a new report from Stanford University that pushes the reproducibility crises in science into a new realm.
The study involved 70 independent research teams from around the world, who were all presented with the same data: functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) scans of volunteers' brains while they performed a monetary decision-making task.
Google's federated analytics method could analyze end user data without invading privacy |
In a blog post today, Google laid out the concept of federated analytics, a practice of applying data science methods to the analysis of raw data that's stored locally on edge devices. As the tech giant explains, it works by running local computations over a device's data and making only the aggregated results — not the data from the particular device — available to authorized engineers.
While federated analytics is closely related to federated learning , an AI technique that trains an algorithm across multiple devices holding local samples, it only supports basic data science needs. It's "federated learning lite" — federated analytics enables companies to analyze user behaviors in a privacy-preserving and secure way, which could lead to better products.

Analytics critical to decisions about how to return to work
Analytics is playing an important role in determining just how businesses can come back as state economies slowly reopen. Not only are restaurants, hair salons and other businesses forced to close by the COVID-19 crisis returning to work, but office employees who had been working from home are now heading back to their physical workspaces.
Two of the main ways analytics is helping organizations return to work are by giving them an understanding of how aggressively to restore operations to pre-COVID-19 levels and grow from there, and how to physically bring back employees as safely as possible .
