Volkswagen said a third party may have obtained the personal information of about 3.3 million customers or potential buyers in a letter Friday, according to reports.
An unnamed digital vendor that Volkswagen's subsidiary, Audi, and some of its U.S. and Canadian dealers used for sales and marketing purposes "left electronic data unsecured at some point between August 2019 and May 2021," the German automaker said in the letter obtained by tech news website TechCrunch .

RIGBY – A power outage affecting 13,942 Rocky Mountain Power customers has been fully restored, as of 2:30 p.m. Saturday.
Company spokeswoman Tiffany Erickson tells EastIdahoNews.com the cause of the outage is still being determined but there was a loss of power transmission that affected four substations.
The outage remains under investigation and Erickson is grateful to those who responded to restore power in a timely manner.

McDonald's data breach exposes customers' personal information
McDonald's has become the latest company to be hit by a data breach after unauthorized activity on its network exposed the personal data of some customers in South Korea and Taiwan.
McDonald's Corp. said Friday that it quickly identified and contained the incident and that a thorough investigation was done.
"While we were able to close off access quickly after identification, our investigation has determined that a small number of files were accessed, some of which contained personal data," the burger chain said.
