Pro-gun groups step up lobbying campaign against Biden ATF pick | TheHill

"It will come down to a couple of votes, and we all know who," said Larry Keane, senior vice president and general counsel for the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF).

Defeating Chipman's nomination is a top priority for the lobbying group, which argues he would reinterpret existing laws to crack down on firearm manufacturers. During his Senate hearing, Chipman told lawmakers he supports banning the AR-15 rifle, but said he would stick to enforcing the laws on the books if confirmed.

Sweet Tooth's Front-Page Newspaper Ad Sparks Controversy | CBR

Netflix has sparked some controversy over its ad campaign for the new streaming series, Sweet Tooth , where the company has, in effect, "taking over" the front page of Gannett's USA Today newspaper with a giant ad for the series.

The giant ad is mocked up to make it look like it is a real edition of USA Today, only one that is tied into the events of the Sweet Tooth series (which is based on the acclaimed Vertigo comic book series by Jeff Lemire), with a headline that reads "Hybrid babies born across the US" with a sub-headline of, "World reacts to new generation of half-human, half-animal children with both awe and concern."

Iowa auditor questions governor's spending for COVID-19 ads – WIZM 92.3FM 1410AM

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Iowa's auditor accused the state's governor Thursday of violating a 2018 state law that prohibits statewide elected officials from using public funds for self promotion, arguing she broke the law by making ads promoting coronavirus public safety measures.

Auditor Rob Sand said an ad campaign launched by Gov. Kim Reynolds in November that was designed to slow the spread of the coronavirus violated the law because it featured Reynolds, who used more than $500,000 of federal coronavirus relief funding for the ads.

State auditor says governor violated law with COVID-19 ad | Govt-and-politics | globegazette.com

State Auditor Rob Sand, who is eyeing a run for governor next year, says Gov. Kim Reynolds violated Iowa law by using federal funds to pay for a public service announcement to raise public awareness about COVID-19.

Sand said Reynolds violated a state law prohibiting the use of public money for self-promotion using the likeness, voice or name of the governor.

According to his Thursday report, about $500,000 in federal coronavirus pandemic relief funds were used on the "Step Up, Stop the Spread" public awareness campaign. Another $17,000 spent producing the videos may have violated the law, the first-term Democratic auditor said.
