How Brands Can Stay Engaged With Customers

Establishing customer engagement and keeping them engaged is more important than ever for brands. Now that many brands have temporarily lost the ability for invaluable face-to-face contact with customers, it's crucial that they diversify their engagement for this new normal.

Where possible, brands are figuring out if and how they can offer their services online. This is understandably tricky for people like hairdressers and massage therapists. And even if people working in these professions did manage to offer services online, they do so at the risk of their post-lockdown income—will people want to pay $50 for a massage if their partner can do it for free?

Apple urging its retail employees to help customers remotely - HoustonChronicle.com

Apple Inc. is readjusting operations as Covid-19 cases continue to spike in the U.S. and some other parts of the world.

The Cupertino, California-based technology giant is pushing retail staff to work remotely as the virus forces the company to shut some of its stores again, according to a video message sent to employees. It is also shipping Covid-19 test kits to employees’ homes, and told staff in a memo that a full return to U.S. offices won’t occur before the end of the year.

There is no free lunch, though. Even in more physically constrained scenarios, federated queries are complex and expensive. When the federation essentially involves different data warehouse clusters in separate data centers, let alone separate clouds, that complexity only increases.

Omni, and Anthos more generally, are smart realpolitik moves, and less capitulatory than competitive: customers who find GCP services attractive may then decide to land new data there...and maybe even move old data there from AWS and Azure. In other words, while data gravity begets service usage, the reverse can be true as well.
