David Perdue won his U.S. Senate seat with the help of a catchy, provocative ad campaign. He’s trying to keep it with a no-frills, direct-to-camera message that addresses the movement for racial justice and slams his Democratic opponent.
The first-term Republican on Wednesday released his first volley of ads this election cycle, and both offered a different approach from the TV spots that dominated the 2014 campaign.
Back then, the messaging honed Perdue’s image as a jean-jacketed outsider and the adult in the room amid a bevy of babbling babies.
Quite a lot has been going on:

Campaign ads for both President Donald Trump and Joe Biden are popping up on white nationalist videos on YouTube, underscoring the site's failure to crack down on extremist content, according to a report released Tuesday.

Trump floods airwaves with campaign ads as Biden lays low
Between May 11 and June 28, nearly 85,000 TV ads costing a combined $51 million were broadcast across America in the 2020 presidential race. Over 50,000 were purchased by Trump's campaign, and another 11,600 by outside groups that support him — a major increase since the beginning of 2019. That's according to a new analysis from the Wesleyan Media Project in partnership with OpenSecrets.
The Trump campaign shows no sign of relenting. Between June 26 and July 2, Trump pre-booked $113 million in television ads in key swing states Arizona, Florida, Michigan, North Carolina, Ohio and Wisconsin.

Several large health-care organizations are partnering on an advertising campaign to encourage people to return to their medical providers as the pandemic continues, a sign of how difficult it has been to allay fears of catching the coronavirus during visits to a doctor or pharmacy.
Patients worried about contracting Covid-19 in medical facilities have for months canceled doctors' appointments for managing chronic conditions such as diabetes, delayed preventive care such as vaccinations and put off diagnostic work.

Presidential campaign ads for both Donald Trump and Joe Biden ran on YouTube channels controlled by Russian state-backed media and white supremacists, according to a report published Tuesday.
Instead, YouTube's algorithms placed the campaigns' political ads before videos from the Russian media outlet and white supremacist groups based on algorithms that automatically determine where such paid-for content should be shown, based on the demographics of YouTube views that individual advertisers want to target online.
