WASHINGTON — Dr. Anthony S. Fauci, whose blunt public health advice has frequently been at odds with President Trump, said on Tuesday that a Trump campaign ad quoted him "completely out of context" by incorrectly implying that he was praising the administration's coronavirus response.

He also warned that the campaign "may turn off a lot of people" by airing an ad to which he is so vocally opposed.
"President Trump tackled the virus head on, as leaders should," the ad declares, before switching to a shot of Dr. Fauci saying, "I can't imagine that anybody could be doing more."

A non-profit run by advisors to Gov. Phil Murphy launched the second ad of it's $1.25 million television and digital advertising blitz, this time touting Murphy's response to the pandemic.
The new 30-second spot, titled "Changed," comes less than two weeks after Murphy officially announced his re-election campaign.
It shows Murphy, in black and white, repeating his mantra for a stronger and fairer New Jersey before cutting — in full color — to television appearances Murphy made to discuss the state's COVID-19 response. The ad uses a green and blue color scheme reminiscent of the signage used during the governor's virus briefings.

The state agency in charge of regulating money in elections hopes to make advertising disclosure requirements easier on small-time campaigns.
The Campaign Spending Commission levied over $6,900 worth of fines against 20 candidates at a meeting Wednesday. Almost all of the fines came because of a failure to comply with rules over advertising disclosures that many new candidates have found confusing.
Confusion over that law has led to hefty fines in previous meetings in the last two years. Right now, the law requires campaigns to file what's called an electioneering communication report within 24 hours of signing a contract for an advertisement.

We obey the corona rules," reads the full text, according to CNN's translation, alongside an otherwise benevolent-looking, gray-haired woman, her eyes glaring over the top of a fetching floral mask. People over age 65 are among those more vulnerable to severe illness from the SARS-CoV-2 virus, which causes COVID-19.

We also learned today Shelby County Mayor Lee Harris ' office approved a one million dollar ad campaign to improve public awareness of COVID-19 .
They also say it's the latest example of a growing division with Mayor Harris, whom they accuse of bypassing them in their role as commissioners. County attorneys say the mayor can approve larger contracts if it's due to a disaster, and COVID-19 qualifies.
Commissioner Edmund Ford, Jr. is asking the state to investigate. So, while the politicians bicker, taxpayer dollars are flying out the door.
