Public spaces are gradually starting to reopen, with limited capacity and other social distancing guidelines set up. Disneyland, which recently began to reopen, announced that its theme park will enable more robust mobile ordering options and payment methods at park dining locations than before the pandemic. The move is aimed at customers who are still wary of physical contact that could put them at risk of infection by providing them with alternative ordering options.

Data Analytics Without a Plan is Like Panning for Gold - InformationWeek

Data is being generated and collected at an astonishing rate. Companies hoping to duplicate the success of data-first organizations like Amazon are jumping on the bandwagon, collecting every scrap of information they can. But without a plan to analyze and act upon this data, it is easy to get bogged down by minutiae with no real impact.

The first (and often skipped) step in creating an analytics strategy is mapping it to business goals. Dazzled by the wealth of available data, companies don’t know what is important and what is a distraction. They treat data analysis like panning for gold -- sift through everything, and sooner or later you’re bound to find a nugget of value.

Hal Steinbrenner defends Yankees' ALDS Game 2 analytics, but not J.A.

Yankees managing parter Hal Steinbrenner thinks pitcher J.A. Happ's struggles pitching in relief during ALDS Game 2 were a reason for the loss, not the decision to use an opener.

* * *

It might have worked, Steinbrenner insinuated, if Happ hadn't flopped in what surely was the final act of the left-hander's mostly disappointing and controversial 2 ½ seasons as a Yankee.

"I know this was a source of great debate," Steinbrenner said Tuesday on Michael Kay's ESPN Radio show. "I thought the logic was sound. We're not the only team that employed that plan in this postseason. But the bottom line is in order for a plan to be successful, the different components of the plan have to be well executed, and that didn't happen here. Happ struggled, and he struggled significantly, and eventually the plan failed."
