Old Navy taps Richmond's Martin Agency for ad campaign | Virginia Business

Old Navy has chosen The Martin Agency as a creative agency partner, according to reports this week from AdAge and Ad Week.

“The Martin Agency is thrilled to announce that we'll be working with Old Navy on a new campaign that will launch in May 2020,” the company said in a statement.

The Richmond-based advertising firm succeeds Chandelier Creative, which worked with the clothing retailer owned by The Gap Inc. for seven years. The first Old Navy advertising campaign created by Martin will air beginning in May, according to Ad Week . Jamie Gersch, Old Navy's chief marketing officer, will oversee the campaign, AdAge reports .

Washington agency rejects Facebook settlement, refers campaign ad violation charge to AG’s

Washington’s campaign finance watchdog on Thursday rejected a settlement that its own staff had negotiated with Facebook over charges the social media giant has repeatedly violated state campaign finance law.

Facebook and fellow tech behemoth Google both pledged to stop accepting local political ads in Washington after they were accused of running afoul of state law, which requires ad sellers to disclose specific information on the names and addresses of people who buy ads, who ads target and the total number of views of each ad. Newspapers and TV and radio stations have long complied with these requirements.

'Wall-to-wall campaign': Californians bombarded with Bloomberg ads - Reuters

SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - Elizabeth Isabella, a homemaker in Burbank, California, was driving car pool when her 10-year-old son Lachlan started reciting YouTube ads by U.S. Democratic presidential candidate Michael Bloomberg.

“Mike will get it done,” he said, repeating the slogan that played on his Fortnite and Minecraft gaming videos.

The billionaire candidate, a late entrant in the primary race, is pouring money into Super Tuesday states voting on March 3 and saturating them to a degree that political media strategists and ad-tracking firms said is unprecedented.

Purdue Pharma launches $23.8 million ad campaign on filing opioid claims against company | TheHill

Purdue Pharma launched an ad campaign Monday notifying people how to file claims against the OxyContin maker as part of the company's bankruptcy settlement.

Ads directing people to the website are expected to run on TV, radio and online and are targeted to reach 95 percent of U.S. adults, according to the AP.

The company has since filed for bankruptcy. A notice on the website indicates that users will have until June 30, 2020 to submit their claims.

Bloomberg's Meme Campaign: They're Just Ads - The Atlantic

The attempt at self-aware humor and the affiliation with a specific sort of Instagram account make Bloomberg's ads meme culture-adjacent, but they don't actually make them memes—which can't be bought, or at the very least, can't be bought this simply.

Certainly Bloomberg's Instagram strategy is helping his campaign on some level. Each of the campaign's posts have hundreds of thousands of likes. The disbelieving comments themselves drive engagement, and bump the post's position in other users' feeds. But the ads do not contain any content other than the information that Mike Bloomberg exists and is running for president. "Reach and visibility is not the same as impact," Varis says. "The message also has to speak to somebody on some level."
