Evergy warns customers of frequent phone call scam

TOPEKA, Kan. (KSNT) – Evergy posted a tip warning its customers to be aware of an increasingly popular scam.

According to an Evergy spokesperson, many customers have been receiving phone calls from fraudsters claiming that they will shut off the power unless the customer pays them with a prepaid debit card.

The spokesperson for Evergy said they receive several calls from customers daily, including multiple Friday morning, and that the scam is becoming more frequent.

Nedbank says 1.7 million customers impacted by breach at third-party provider | ZDNet

Nedbank, one of the biggest banks in the South Africa region, has disclosed a security incident yesterday that impacted the personal details of 1.7 million users.

The bank says the breach occurred at Computer Facilities (Pty) Ltd, a South African company the bank was using to send out marketing and promotional campaigns.

The bank began notifying customers about the breach yesterday, via SMS. A copy of one of these texts is below, courtesy of one of our readers.

State assemblyman urging Spectrum give customers refund following weekend outage

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — New York State Assemblyman Sean Ryan (D) is asking Charter Communications to credit Spectrum customers following this past weekends outage.

A spokesperson with the company says customers may qualify for a refund on a case-by-case basis. The company is asking customers to call and speak with a representative. Ryan is asking the internet and cable provider to automatically credit customer bills instead.

'Business as usual' for BB&T bank customers after merger | Business | pottsmerc.com
