Kustomer on Wednesday (July 8) announced a deal with Shopify that the New York firm is betting will expand the reach of its CRM (customer relationship management) platform.
Shopify has selected Kustomer as "an enterprise customer service CRM platform in the Shopify Plus Certified App Program," Kustomer announced in a press release.
For merchants doing business on Shopify Plus, the new partnership will make "Shopify data viewable within the context of their customers’ historical activity, and actionable so that they can process returns and exchanges."

OTTAWA — A made-in-Canada mobile app to alert Canadians who may have been exposed to a person infected with COVID-19 is ready for testing in Ontario, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced Thursday.
Trudeau said using the app is completely voluntary and it will not share or store any personal information, including a user's geographical location.
The app was developed by Canadian Digital Service, Ontario Digital Service, Blackberry, and volunteers from Shopify who helped build it. The app uses Bluetooth software that was developed by phone-makers like Apple and Google. It creates and shares an anonymous identification code from your phone to any phone that also has the app and comes into close proximity with your own for an extended period of time. Your phone will also collect codes from those phones and store them for 14 days.

Lulu Sheng's workload at Carleton University might be heavier than most. The computer science student spends a portion of every week working at Shopify as part of a new Dev Degree program that was developed in partnership with the university three years ago.
Sheng, who is part of the second Dev Degree cohort, saw the program as a new approach to learning. "I didn't think I could develop my skills as much in a more traditional program. This approach has placed me on a learning path that ramps up my skills for the industry. Being able to integrate with a team in a work environment so early in my university career allows me to develop really amazing skills."
