HHS Secretary Alex Azar on Friday said he's ordering a review of a $300 million-plus ad campaign aimed at boosting confidence in the Trump administration's coronavirus response, one day after Democratic lawmakers expanded their probe into the taxpayer-funded effort.

Celebs back away from Trump admin.'s $300M COVID-19 ad campaign | Ars Technica

The Trump administration's more-than-$300 million "public advertising and awareness campaign" on the COVID-19 pandemic is floundering as A-list celebrities back away and staff at the Department of Health and Human Services express opposition, according to reporting by Politico .

The campaign—organized by former Trump campaign official Michael Caputo—was intended to "defeat despair" and bolster confidence in the Trump administration's response to the pandemic. A central feature of the campaign would be video interviews between celebrities and administration officials, who would discuss the pandemic and the federal response.

The ads are not discussing directly either the election or candidates by name, but the message is pro-oil, and against proposals to restrict drilling for natural gas and oil.

NRF calls on consumers to shop earlier in ad campaign | Retail Dive

On Tuesday, the National Retail Federation announced the launch of its "New Holiday Traditions" campaign , a consumer education effort meant to encourage consumers to shop safely during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The NRF found in its annual consumer survey that 43% of shoppers are waiting until November to do their holiday shopping, and 59% plan to shop more online this holiday season than last year.

The campaign encourages consumers to shop earlier this year and take safety precautions. The trade organization is distributing its campaign across digital, social media, radio and connected TV ads between October and mid-November in key U.S. markets.
