L.A. County allows shopping malls and nail salons to reopen - Los Angeles Times
Nail salons and indoor malls will be allowed to reopen at 25% capacity, but per state guidance, mall food courts and common areas will remain closed.
The decision to reopen parks falls to the city or county jurisdiction that oversees such spaces. If a city implements a stricter rule than the county, the more stringent enforcement would apply. The city of Los Angeles, for example, has previously closed businesses before the county's orders.
The county is taking a staggered approach to reopening over the next 10 days and will announce dates for individual sectors Friday.
Retailers are hyping QR codes as key to safe shopping – Glossy
Despite being around since the 1990s, QR code technology has never made a truly noticeable impact on the world of retail. But the pandemic is leading fashion brands and retailers to try anything to convince customers that stores are safe, disinfecting constantly, limiting foot traffic and making as much of the shopping process contactless as possible. QR codes are the latest way brands are making that appeal.
“We used QR codes a little bit, but it wasn’t really widespread,” said David Sobie, co-founder of Happy Returns, a returns company that has hundreds of in-person return bars in retail stores around the country. “We’re pushing in that direction much more now. It seems like every fashion company has a sustainable line these days — or at least, one they claim is sustainable. Greenwashing can be hard to avoid (and even harder to identify), so if you're a fan of online shopping, a good tactic is to just stay away from major retailers, and instead, to patronage sustainable one-stop-shops and marketplaces online .
So no matter the reason you're online shopping, we recommend utilizing sustainable one-stop-shops online, where you can rest assured that most of the items you'll come across are ethically-made, environmentally-friendly, and a better alternative than the plastic-packaged, imported things you'll find on Amazon.
