How working from home has changed 8 months in - Marketplace
Many Americans are spending Thanksgiving with only their immediate household members at their own home — which, for the millions of people who have been working from home for the last eight months, is kind of like spending the holiday at work. Marketplace has been following the work from home journeys of people around the country since the early days in mid-March when companies began sending people home with their laptops.
Erin McDermott works in public relations for a marketing agency in Seattle — one of the first U.S. cities to be affected by the pandemic. She’s been COVID-remote longer than most. When her office closed the first week of March, she had no idea how long it would be for.
Facebook Marketplace Sale Leads to Fairhaven Stabbing
FAIRHAVEN — Fairhaven Police are actively investigating a stabbing that occurred on Thanksgiving afternoon in an apparent Facebook Marketplace sale gone bad.
Police say that as the investigation is currently active and ongoing, no further details will be released at this time.
Kobza said Fairhaven Police strongly encourage anyone conducting any type of transaction that requires them to meet with people they do not know to do so in the parking lot of the Fairhaven Police Department, located at 1 Bryant Lane. There is an area that is specifically designated as an "Internet Purchase Exchange Location."

EC Eyes Enhancements for a Post–COVID-19 Marketplace | Center for Biosimilars®
The EC "pharmastrategy" issued this week outlines a myriad of goals, such as achieving a more competitive system that does not discourage innovation or turn biosimilar and generic producers away, developing a deeper understanding of pharmaceutical supply chain issues so that uncertainties spawned by the pandemic can be managed more effectively the next time, and improving country-by-country procurement of medicines by strengthening the competitive bidding system.
"Though we are experiencing a period of rapid change and innovation, many patients do not benefit from that innovation, because medicines are either unaffordable or unavailable. And there is greater awareness of the need to ensure that our use of pharmaceuticals is sustainable," the EC said.
Here's one idea for addressing occupational segregation - Marketplace
"A just and inclusive economy is only achievable by centering racial equity," said Rebecca Dixon, executive director of the National Employment Law Project. "The fact that a disproportionate share of people in underpaid, insecure and unsafe jobs are Black and brown is not inevitable, nor is it accidental. Opportunity is segregated in the United States."
Kimberly Adams: As we heard in that clip, you brought up the fact that opportunity is segregated in the United States. And the term occupational segregation was thrown around a lot in that panel. Can you talk to me a little bit more about how this shows up in the economy?
How seniors on limited income are coping during COVID-19 - Marketplace
Addison said that during this difficult time, she's actually managed to save money. She can cover her expenses, which are about $1,000 a month, in one of the most expensive cities in the world with her Social Security check. She no longer shops or eats out, and she's frugal at the supermarket.
“I know everything and every price,” she said. “That’s part of my ‘elderness,’ I call it."

But “the doctors and the nurses was just over and beyond. And I think that got me through a lot,” she said.
