D2C Brand Native Heads To Retail With Support From New Ad Campaign 10/08/2020

Procter & Gamble’s direct-to-consumer deodorant brand Native is rolling out to national retailers including Target, Wal-Mart, Walgreens, and the rollout is being supported by  an ad campaign developed with Cincinnati-based agency Curiosity. 

The “No is our Whoa” campaign is designed around the idea the word "no" can actually be a good thing. The creative features a female voiceover first admitting no is a frequently used word, before pivoting to suggest “no” can be a good thing, such as the elimination of aluminum and bad-for-you ingredients in deodorants.

The ad promoted a great deal of negative commentary, including criticism that the commercial was sexist and classist — the already-fit woman was using a $2,245 bike. What's more, the company's stock fell by about 9% the day after online outrage spread across social media and news sites. 

"It's all about how this can be your special time to step away and be part of a community," said Alixandra Barasch, an assistant professor of marketing at New York University's Stern School of Business. "It's less about what went wrong in the last campaign, which was focusing too much on what your body should look like."

Lincoln Project Launches $1M Anti-Trump Ad Campaign in Texas

The Lincoln Project, a super PAC made up of current and former Republicans, said it will launch an initial week-long run of TV and digital ads focused primarily on what a spokesperson described as the president's "malice and inhumanity" in dealing with the coronavirus pandemic.

The Lincoln Project said it plans to target Republican women in the state's rural and suburban areas and Hispanic voters. The ads in the suburbs will focus on issues related to racism and extremism, the spokesperson said.

'Vote for America' Ad Campaign Focuses on Dangers of Far-Left Policies

The Heritage Foundation on Monday announced a new $1.1 million " Fight for America, Vote for America " advertising campaign.

The three 30-second ads will air for four weeks on the Discovery Channel, HGTV, the History Channel, and Fox News, and will focus on the "dystopian goals of the extreme left and activate the nation for a better America ," Heritage said.

"America's great experiment in liberty needs defending , and The Heritage Foundation is at the forward edge of the fight for our future," Heritage Foundation President Kay C. James said in a public statement, adding:

Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden's campaign is set to spend millions of dollars on TV ads in Texas as polls continue to show a close race in the state.

The former vice president's campaign announced earlier this year that it would make TV reservations this fall in Texas, and as of Tuesday, it had booked more than $6 million through Election Day, according to the media-tracking firm Advertising Analytics.

Biden Enlist Hip Hop Stars For New Ad Campaign For Black Voters

As the presidential elections draw closer, the Biden-Harris campaign is enlisting help from celebrity supporters and friends to encourage people to vote in November. Recently, Biden unveiled his new ad campaign, featuring music superstars Ludacris, Jermaine Dupri , and Young Jeezy.

“Our campaign is focused on meeting voters where they are with Joe Biden and Kamala Harris ‘ message to build back better,” said Kamau Marshall, director of strategic communications for Joe Biden’s 2020 presidential election. “These events and new GOTV ads with various influencers reach a critical audience of Black voters that we’re hoping to turn out this election.”
