Ecommerce shopping has steadily grown, even accelerated due to Coronavirus, expected to reach $4.2 billion globally in 2020 (Statista) and be more than 16% of global retail sales. Nearly every category and vertical has been impacted, including books, video, electronics, and of course household goods. We can expect this holiday season to be even bigger.

Busby started from the customer perspective, recognizing the new wave of customers weren't the early adopters who chose ecommerce, but in the time of COVID-19, have been pushed to use it. An eMarketer report from May of this year showed a more than 50% increase in the number of households buying groceries online vs 2019, from 92 million to 131 million! With almost 40 million new shoppers buying online, how should brands rethink some of their content?

'Black Friday' becomes 'Black November' as retailers reboot to stress

The shopping spectacular is getting a pandemic-induced makeover, with many major retailers starting their sales earlier than ever and ending them later. Companies are hoping to avoid the crush of customers that crowd stores on the Friday after Thanksgiving by giving them more buying, pickup and delivery options.

This year, the Black Friday deals that are usually reserved for in-store shopping will appear online during the month. Nearly 51% of shoppers feel anxious about shopping in-store during the holidays and 64% of their budget is expected to be spent online, according to a new shopping survey from Deloitte.

eCommerce is growing this year | AZ Big Media

According to SEO Expert Witness – Peter Kent , the current growth of the eCommerce market is what we expected to see years from now. This is not a bad thing though since it can jumpstart the natural evolution of online businesses.

Clients spent $212 billion between April 2020 and June 2020 on eCommerce. This data was released by the US Department of Commerce . Basically, we have a 32% increase that shows us exactly how much eCommerce grew during pandemic months. During the first 3 months of 2020, we only saw a growth of 2.4%. Right now, in the US, eCommerce makes up 16.1% of all the sales made. This is up from the 11.8% we saw in Q1.

Egypt's Brantu raises seven-figure Series A for its fashion ecommerce platform

Cairo-based fashion ecommerce platform Brantu has raised a seven-figure (USD) investment in a Series A round led by one of the leading Egyptian VCs Sawari Ventures, it announced today in a statement to MENAbytes without disclosing the exact size of investment.

Brantu (the company) had originally started as an ecommerce venture builder by Mohamed Rizk and Fredrik Granström in late 2016 with a price comparison platform Elprices as their first venture. Elprices was launched in 2018 but was apparently shut down in early 2019.
