Kroger proposes giant Marketplace store in Miamisburg

Kroger is looking to expand in a Dayton area community by replacing a more than 25-year-old storefront with a new Marketplace.

A concept site plan submitted for the proposed development of the 155 N. Heincke Road site in Miamisburg shows a 124,000-square-foot Kroger Marketplace and a fueling station. If approved, the store would be part of the "complete redevelopment" of two properties — the existing 6.84 acres that houses an existing 66,840-square-foot Kroger and a 21.67-acre lot to the north that contains Groby Field.

Some of the plots listed via Facebook's classified ads service are as large as 1,000 football pitches.

Does Clubhouse owe its Black users for the platform's success? - Marketplace

Clubhouse is an invite-only audio app that came out last spring with a very small community of, at the time, mostly Silicon Valley tech-y people in it. Back then, they were talking mostly about tech-related stuff. Now, the app has 10 million active users on a weekly basis and a valuation of about $1 billion.

Aniyia Williams: This convergence of cool people, exclusivity and celebrities all being on this thing just really has had it explode. And then, when you combine that with just the very kind of Black culture, I just think that there’s something that’s very oral about Black culture and how Black people communicate with each other. So it’s just, I think, a real natural fit.

We're doing shutters all wrong - Marketplace

"I think shutters are beautiful — you get them on a Colonial Revival or a house where they belong, and they’re amazing," he said. "But I just think that America has no clue how to use shutters right now."

We have far more pressing issues, to be sure, but consider: Shutters were invented to keep the weather out, Sidler said, so they needed to be the same height as the window and half the width, so they'd cover it when they were closed.

"They’re vinyl, they’re screwed into the wall, they're not the right size," he said. "It just baffles me that people don't understand the simple idea that a shutter shuts."

Vermont lawmakers set to tweak cannabis marketplace law

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) - The Vermont Legislature is looking to tweak elements of its signature tax and regulate cannabis law passed last year. As Calvin Cutler reports, before the law kicks in next year, advocates are pushing for more changes aimed at agricultural and racial equity.

Governor Phil Scott let marijuana sales become law without his signature last year, saying the bill needed more work in the areas of education, prevention, and racial justice. Since then, the state has been slow to set up the system, with the governor still needing to appoint members of a cannabis control board.
