"It's really different this year, because we're not doing our booth sales outside of stores, and there are a lot of restrictions," said Linnea Mason, 17, a senior at New Trier High School.
"I've contacted a lot of family friends by texting, and they're using a lot more electronic payments, like Venmo," added Laurel Mason, 15, a sophomore at New Trier.
And with both girls enrolled in the high school's remote learning program during the pandemic, Linnea Mason said she took full advantage of a captive virtual audience.

As reported by What Now Los Angeles, Lady & Larder is opening its second storefront on May 1 at 828 Pico Boulevard in Santa Monica. Owned by two sisters Sarah Simms Hendrix and Boo Simms, the store currently has a popular location in Mar Vista at 3759 Sawtelle Boulevard.
Patrons can expect everything from sandwiches, salads, cheese, cured meats, beer, wine, desserts and more, all featuring many ingredients sourced from the Santa Monica Farmers Market.

Two Kenosha residents were charged Thursday for looting an Uptown business during rioting in August.
The complaint states that security video from the store showed multiple people involved. Police recognized Simpson and McNab, according to the complaint.
Police spoke to Simpson. According to the complaint, Simpson told police "he had been drinking that night and it influenced his judgement," admitting he had taken hair clippers and hair product while in the store. He said he dropped the hair product on the way out and gave away all but one of the hair clippers.
Eclectic shop, yoga studio now open in Belmont's North Main Station
A new yoga studio and artisan shop in downtown Belmont opened its storefront to customers and held its first classes last week.
Wife-and-husband duo Michelle LoSardo and Cory Miller opened Belmont Yoga. The yoga studio offers various yoga classes, as well as an eclectic storefront of yoga accessories, handmade jewelry, artwork, branded apparel, candles and other artisan creations.
It's the first tenant of North Main Station on Glenway Street to open for business. North Main Station's other tenant, farm-to-fork restaurant Heirloom, plans to open later this year.

It was confirmed earlier this month that the old Save-A-Lot building in Brushfork is being converted into a new True Value Hardware store and that a once vacant structure in downtown Bluefield, Va., will soon house a coffee shop, hair and nail salon and an axe throwing business.
Work is now underway on converting the old grocery store in Brushfork into the new hardware store. The building was purchased last year by Phil Akers Jr., owner of Planet Power Sports in Brushfork, who has been working since that time to make improvements to the shopping center site.
Starbucks at West Virginia University's Market to operate on reduced hours following COVID-19
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (WV News) — West Virginia University on Thursday announced the Starbucks location at The Market @ UPlace will temporarily reduce its operating hours due to staffing limitations following a COVID-19 exposure at the storefront on Thursday.
The adjusted hours of operation for next week are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The storefront will be closed on Feb. 20 and Feb. 21.

Another lawsuit contesting Pasadena’s approval process for cannabis retailers has been dropped, lawyers say. Nearly a dozen suits from different companies had been filed since 2019 and now, after WOW Health and Wellness LLC agreed to drop its case, the vast majority are gone.
“This litigation was filed by an unsuccessful commercial cannabis applicant in an attempt to upend the city's screening process for a commercial cannabis application process, and was without merit from the start,” city spokeswoman Lisa Derderian said in a statement.
