Most of the reduction of balance is because of payments received, but some is due to the closure of accounts.

How businesses can build strong connections with customers - TechRepublic
Nearly 67% of businesses know more about customers than last year, according to a new study by Insightly.
The new revelation may stem from the additional finding that nearly 60% of businesses are spending more on marketing in 2021 compared to 2020—only 22% are spending less and 20% noted no change—which the Insightly study said is "a sign that companies recognize the importance of being proactive with their customers by reconnecting with them throughout more touch points in the customer journey."
Customers can thank 'Sunday' for 10-second payments | QSR Web
Customers in the U.S. and Europe can say goodbye to waiting for their dinner bills, thanks to an Atlanta-based tech company, Sunday. It developed a 10-second payment solution giving customers an option of paying at the table or and the ability to pay on their own time.
Founded and designed by Christine de Wendel, the former COO of ManoMano, as well as Tigrane Seydoux and Victor Lugger, who both worked for Europe's Big Mama Group Restaurants, the payment technology allows customers to pay their bill via QR codes placed on their tables. The payment solution limits customer wait time; increases efficiency; allows customers to split checks and eliminate physical touchpoints between restaurant staff and customers, Wendel said in the release.

Why Some Businesses Refer to Customers as 'Guests' | Mental Floss
For decades, retailers and other businesses referred to customers as customers . (If they were rude, possibly as jerks .) Increasingly, some proprietors like to call patrons guests . It happens at Target , Walgreens, and other locations. It's exceedingly polite and slightly strange. How and why did it start?
In 1955, when Disneyland opened in Anaheim, California, employees occupying the Happiest Place on Earth were instructed to refer to park attendees as guests . It was part of the company's devotion to going the extra mile to create a welcoming fantasy atmosphere.
Mr. Marketing: Customers are paying attention! - Pomerado News
Controversies are growing exponentially, with the volume on each cranking up significantly. Society's become so polarized that every topic has a political tinge. Business as usual's a thing of the past.
When a liquor shop owner in San Diego County wore his face mask around his chin and sneeringly told a customer he's doing the bare minimum to suit the law, another customer walked out swearing to never return.
There's a local restaurant serving customers seated in a pop-up tent in a parking lot. The restaurant complies with the letter of the law, but not the spirit. Many customers see this as disingenuous and go elsewhere.
