Bigger investors are starting to take Bitcoin seriously - Marketplace

In November, the price of a single Bitcoin passed its previous record of $19,783, set in 2017. It has nearly doubled since — despite a dip of more than 25% on Monday.

The cryptocurrency has been around for over a decade, but hasn't won much attention from institutional investors until recently. And despite its volatility, some are making the case that we should start thinking about Bitcoin as an asset — suitable, even, for long-term investing.

Ithaca Farmers Market introduces curbside pickup option, online marketplace - The Ithaca Voice

ITHACA, N.Y.—The 2021 Winter Farmers Market has already started this past weekend, and will run every Saturday from now until the end of March. This year, though, the market is offering an online option to cater to those who are uncomfortable with shopping in person due to the coronavirus.

The market runs each Saturday, from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and is located in the Triphammer Marketplace. There will be an online option, which will allow customers to look through "food, art and farm products from their favorite vendors" on one site and pay there, picking up their orders behind the Triphammer Marketplace without having to have in-person contact.

Will "cancel culture" come for us all? - Marketplace

Amy Webb: In the aftermath of the attack on the Capitol, Eric Trump very publicly proclaimed that his family [was] being canceled. And it’s interesting to see the push-pull, the tension, between those seeking to cancel others and those complaining that they themselves have been canceled. This is one of these situations where the technology enabling all of this is both the megaphone, the infrastructure and also the “stop” button.

Molly Wood: How do we tease apart the arguments about cancel culture that are kind of specious and the real behavior that is behind it?

Oregon Association of Nurseries to host virtual marketplace | Coronavirus | eastoregonian.com

The virtual event, Niemi said, is intended to complement rather than replace the annual in-person Farwest Show, which is still tentatively planned for Aug. 18-20 if the pandemic is under control by then.

Many nursery owners are already part of a printed guide published annually called the Nursery Guide book, which typically has 300 pages of listings and content about Oregon nurseries. February's virtual event was inspired by the Nursery Guide, but will push the concept further by giving customers the opportunity to interact in the virtual marketplace rather than simply read listings in a catalog.

Trusted Capital Marketplace Reduces Vulnerability to Adversarial Capital > U.S.

The Defense Department stood up the Trusted Capital Marketplace in December, and already both capability and capital providers are signing up to participate, the undersecretary of defense for acquisition and sustainment said today.

In order to ensure adversary nations are not investing in U.S. defense and technology companies — and undermining national security in the process — the department created the Trusted Capital Marketplace.

"Trusted capital works by providing opportunities for trusted financial institutions and qualifying companies to explore mutually beneficial partnerships in support of national security goals," Ellen M. Lord said during a briefing at the Pentagon.
