Bestseller ranking, or BSR, means how fast or slow a product is selling. For example, a product with a BSR of 1 is the best-selling product in that respective category, and the higher up one goes, the lower the sales are. Since Amazon has such an extensive library of products with high demand, sellers can sell up to 400k BSR and still receive constant monthly sales in specific categories. Still, there's a catch - only in specific categories.

  eCommerce sales grew by over 30 percent in 2020, driven by unprecedented consumer demand during the global pandemic. As stay at home orders shifted from weeks to months, many consumers were forced to adapt to shopping online, which has fueled tremendous growth in the sector.

Bad Times For China E-Commerce?

But is the shine starting to come off? Recent events have begun to cast a shadow over China's e-commerce sector. Last November, Chinese regulators blocked the public listing of Ant Financial. Though technically not an e-commerce firm, Ant is an integral part of the Alibaba ($BABA) empire, and grew to become the largest non-bank bank in the world. It started out facilitating e-commerce transactions and then expanded into lending, insurance and wealth management.

This represents a substantial uptick from our mid-pandemic assessment that global ecommerce would decelerate to 16.5% growth and demonstrates the remarkable extent to which consumers transitioned to ecommerce last year.

Even as total worldwide retail sales declined by 3.0% and recessionary conditions set in around the world, ecommerce managed to perform above pre-pandemic expectations in 2020.

Virtually try on makeup with Google Search using AR . Google has launched an augmented reality feature that lets users virtually try on makeup. 2020 Holiday Sales Wrap-up | Practical Ecommerce

Challenged by a pandemic and an unstable economy, online and brick-and-mortar retailers scrambled to salvage the 2020 holiday shopping season. Most merchants started offering discounts much earlier than in previous years to accommodate the changed shopping dynamics.

Research firms defined the 2020 holiday season as the months of November and December (through Christmas Day). Early online discounts diminished the impact of the Cyber 5 — Thanksgiving Day through Cyber Monday — which, according to Adobe Analytics, saw an increase in online sales in the U.S. of 21 percent over 2019. This compares to a 32-percent online increase over 2019 for the entire U.S. 2020 holiday shopping season.
