Wearable art brand launches Dayton-area storefront

A clothing brand that pays tribute to the past by telling stories through wearable art that encourages people to dream and achieve recently opened its first Dayton-area storefront.

Omotayo Obayanju, the owner of The Chipmunk Chronicles in downtown Miamisburg, said he initially dreamed of opening a sneaker store. That changed in 2013 when he purchased a T-shirt by Philadelphia based illustrator Ron Ackins, one featuring Claire Huxtable from "The Cosby Show" and the first Aunt Viv from "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air."

Consumers still value the experience they can get shopping in-store.

Despite the surge in online shopping during the pandemic, most consumers still value the experience they can only get shopping in-store.

I'm among those who have missed the experience of being able to see and touch what I would like to buy. When going to a store, it's an outing and sometimes, shopping therapy is just what's needed after meeting a slew of deadlines.

What's more, seeing an outfit online when a model is wearing it just isn't the same as trying it on yourself and appreciating how it compliments your own physique.

California native will open Pewaukee beach bakery May 1

For more than a decade, California native Sarah Stephens ran an online business that sold custom deserts. Stephens, who moved to Wisconsin 2½ years ago with her family, found an ideal location in Pewaukee to start her first storefront business, Beach Bum Bakery.

"We wanted something right on the beach," Stephens said. "We thought we would incorporate being from Huntington Beach and being right on the Pewaukee beach, so we kind of merged the two."

The bakery, which is scheduled to open May 1, will be in the former home of the Pizza and Crepe Co. at 161 W Wisconsin Ave No. 1G.
