Fifty giant posters offering thanks to Philadelphia’s essential workers popped up across Center City, Old City and South Philly Wednesday morning.
In large lettering over colorful backgrounds, the new street art calls out to people still working as the city pushes through the pandemic, everyone from first responders to transportation workers, nurses to cashiers.
The 4-by-6-foot installations, emblazoned with the hashtag #ThankYouPhilly, were slapped along businesses that have opted to board up their front windows during the long closures imposed by the coronavirus.

Since several small businesses in downtown Las Vegas have shuttered and boarded up their storefronts, Izaac Zevalking, who works under the name Recycled Propaganda, has donated his time and talents to designing nine murals for local shops and restaurants.

If you go by The Banshee, the bar on Dorchester Ave. in Savin Hill, you'll see Rouse's handiwork: The large center window of the establishment has been transformed into a rippling American flag with the words: "Thank you to all our medical staff and first responders" capped off with three letters of local pride: (D-O-T), and a red, white, and blue heart.
