A marketplace connects people who want something (i.e., demand) with people who have that thing to sell (i.e., supply) and results in a financial transaction taking place.
Marketplaces — such as Airbnb, Uber and Amazon — don't own any of the supply. The primary function is to create a safe environment, allowing the supply and demand sides to efficiently transact.

This is the first question to ask. Since you're connecting buyers and sellers, it's extremely important that you understand how that transaction looks without your business facilitating it. Do consumers want or need this transaction to be facilitated differently? A marketplace business needs to solve a problem, not just be a nice-to-have.
