Notices have gone out to some PG&E customers that warn of possible hefty increases in electric bills, a forbidding prospect that has prompted one group to demand that regulators remedy the potential hit to the pocketbooks of low- and middle-income ratepayers.
PG&E electric bills are calculated primarily on whether a customer’s usage puts them into one of three tiers, Tier 1, Tier 2, and High Usage. The more electricity that’s consumed, the more likely a customer ends up in a higher tier.
Quite a lot has been going on:
Walmart requires that customers wear masks. Employee says enforcement is impossible. - Vox
At the very least, some are being sent to do a job with inadequate training and support from their employers, making those so-called mandates little more than empty platitudes — and actual enforcement, in most cases, impossible to do safely .
Just ask Christopher Vanderpool, a former "health ambassador" for the country's largest private employer: Walmart. Though Walmart's announcement of its mask requirement stated that health ambassadors would get "special training to help make the process as smooth as possible for customers," Vanderpool did not.
LUS: 12,000 customers without power, restoration efforts to begin soon
Lafayette Utilities System says they will begin restoration efforts to customers affected by Hurricane Laura once wind speeds have dropped below 39 miles per hour.
The company says this ensures it is safe for LUS and mutual aid crews to begin assessment and restoration work.
Starting with restoration of transmission lines to distribution substations, LUS says they and mutual aid crews will work to restore services to the greatest number of customers as soon as possible.

Duke Energy to resume disconnecting customers behind on payments - Orlando Sentinel
Duke Energy next week will resume disconnecting customers for nonpayment as advocacy groups are intensifying demands for a statewide moratorium on disconnections and debt forgiveness for low-income customers during the pandemic.
As Central Florida's largest power provider, Duke was part of a widespread move among utilities in March that suspended cutting off electricity to customers unable to pay their bills as COVID-19 strangled the region's economy and employment.
