Electronic Payment Technologies for Ecommerce Market 2020 - Business Insider

E-commerce has been growing by leaps and bounds in the last several years, and now the overall market is starting to take notice.

The e-commerce ecosystem is rapidly evolving thanks to advances in online payment processing and electronic payment technology, as well as the willingness of almost all merchants to accept credit cards online.

And while e-commerce's portion of the total share of the U.S. retail market is still relatively slim, nearly all of the growth in the retail sector now occurs in online sales.

A Guide to Payment Tokens for Ecommerce | Practical Ecommerce

Innovation in electronic payments has always balanced risk and convenience. Generally, a payment method that’s convenient for consumers is risky for merchants. The use of “tokens” can reduce that risk by protecting credit card details.

In this post, I’ll explain how tokens can secure payment transactions and databases — and improve your ecommerce business.

A token is a representation of something else. In payments, a token represents a credit card number.

Spreading eCommerce Innovation With Nut Butters | PYMNTS.com

When Zach Fishbain and his now-wife, Val, were planning their shoes-optional wedding, they didn't outsource much of the unique event to anyone. "It was not your traditional wedding," Zach told PYMNTS in an interview. And, when the couple thought about wedding favors for their guests, they knew they couldn't fall short and offer them generic gifts.

Val was already making some homemade peanut butter using the Vitamix blender that she had received from her bridal shower. And they came up with the idea to make the peanut butter their wedding favor, cranking out 50 pounds of the product and packaging it into little jars. "We could only make like a few pounds at a time," Zach said. As soon as they finished preparing the peanut butter, they thought, thank goodness we don't have to do this again .

Heard at NRF:Contradictory conversation from ecommerce tech vendors

At the National Retail Federation conference held earlier this month in New York City, commerce tech vendors touted their latest innovations for digital retail. The theme, from booth to booth, was an eerie echo of words like "connected" and "unified."

NRF's Digital Council (composed of retail CIOs, heads of digital, and similar positions, as well as tech providers) discussed several hot-button terms during their meetings. Hearing from them underscored for me that even these very savvy business leaders are frustrated by the constant onslaught of contradictory and changing mandates.

Feds to Raid Ecommerce Warehouses to Ferret Out Fakes? - EcommerceBytes

Fake goods are entering the country, and the government is planning harsher methods to deal with the problem, according to CNBC . Referring to a report published by the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) on Friday, CNBC said it gives officials “greater power to examine shipments in U.S. warehouses and fulfillment centers, including Amazon's sprawling network of warehouses across the country.”

All ecommerce platforms would be subject to the practices laid out in the report designed to fight counterfeiters, and it appears third-party sellers will also face greater scrutiny – and punishment.
