What brands need to know about Instagram Shopping – Glossy

What brands need to know about Instagram Shopping – Glossy

2020 is set to be a big year for Instagram as it continues to evolve into a bigger e-commerce platform. It’s set to be a big sales channel for direct-to-consumer companies and traditional retailers alike, but there are still a lot of questions about how it all works and when more features will be available for everyone.

“Instagram has been rolling out a lot of things that are either in beta or that the company is not really talking about that much, especially on the influencer side. There are going to be a lot more developments there in 2020,” said Mae Karwowski, founder and CEO of influencer agency and platform Obviously.

Modesto police begin sweeping shopping carts around the city | abc10.com

MODESTO, Calif — Shopping carts have long been used as makeshift storage units on wheels for people experiencing homelessness across the country. But that could soon change in Modesto as police begin a new program to crackdown on misused shopping carts being left around the city.

Modesto police said it is all part of an effort to clean up the city, starting with a shopping cart sweep, the first of which they held Wednesday.

As part of the operation launched, anyone using shopping carts outside of a store's premises will be issued a citation and the cart will be seized. People will be offered a burlap sack to put their belongings in instead, as well as reflective vests and information on services for people affected by homelessness, police said.

Google’s new feature makes it easier to shop from search results – TechCrunch

For example, you could search for things like “running shoes” or “women’s leather belt” or “wide-leg pants,” Google explains, then be presented with a selection of items in a new, visual guide. You can then further narrow down what you’re looking for by style, department or size type, and view images. Underneath each item, Google will also display how many stores carry that product and the lowest price (e.g. “$199+”).

Citing shift to online shopping, Bose will close all of its US stores and many more elsewhere -

Bose Corp. plans to close all of its US stores, part of a broader move by the Framingham audio technology company to shutter a total of 119 retail locations globally as customers shift to online shopping.

The company said in a statement on Wednesday that it will no longer operate stores in North America, Europe, Japan, and Australia. It will keep open stores in other parts of Asia and in the Middle East. Bose would not say how many stores will remain in business, but said it has about 130 shops in China and the United Arab Emirates, and more in countries such as India.

Instagram users not using app for shopping yet, but huge opportunity - Business Insider

Shopping on Instagram promises to be the next big moneymaking hit for the Facebook-owned photo-sharing app — but it still has a long way to go.

New research from the financial-services firm Cowen showed just 12% of Instagram users use the app for shopping purposes — far behind better-established rivals in the space like Pinterest, with 45%.

The data illustrates the opportunity — and challenge — ahead of Facebook as it attempts to diversify away from its core advertising business and muscle in on the e-commerce space.
