30 Under 30 Europe 2020: These Innovative Twentysomethings Are Rethinking Retail And ECommerce

Considering a child's physical growth and evolving interests, only a matter of weeks need pass before a new blouse or action figure is collecting dust on a shelf. In fact, 15% of toys are neglected within days and an estimated 60% are unused at any one time, a survey of 2,000 U.K. parents found.

Meanwhile, Ryan Mario Yasin has an Earth-friendly solution for kids clothing. The aeronautical engineer originally from Iceland designs outfits that expand to children's growing bodies. The product design and durable materials reduce parents' need to abandon outgrown garments, and Yasin has plans to take on maternity wear next.

How Glossier sets the bar for social proof in ecommerce – Econsultancy

A recent survey by Bright Local found that the average consumer will read 10 reviews before feeling able to trust a business, while the majority of people nearly always check reviews before they buy a product online.

For ecommerce brands, reviews can be a hugely powerful form of persuasion (particularly impacting shoppers who are still in the decision-making phase of their journey).

Glossier is one brand that I've noticed is particularly adept at weaving in reviews and many other forms of social proof, into both its website and wider digital marketing activity.

Search, Ecommerce Could Save Retail During Coronavirus 03/17/2020

California resident Jan Mannino, 81, calls herself a “bit of an outlier,” but says she has “a good handle on what is important” to people in her age group and how they use online services.

Mannino doesn’t do a lot of online buying or browsing. There is hardly anything she needs aside from the essentials, and when she needed any of those items before the COVID-19 outbreak, she would get in her car and drive to the store.

Gap Execs Turing to E-Commerce in the Time of Coronavirus – Sourcing Journal

When Gap Inc. executives spoke to analysts on a conference call Thursday to discuss year-end results, they were already anticipating the impact and changes in their supply chain, from factory to consumer sales, of the coronavirus .

But they probably weren’t totally expecting the swift and overwhelming changes in the social order that have now spurred  systematic store closings and cancellation of events and mass gatherings that fundamentally impacts the way the company and the retail sector conducts business. However, there was an anticipatory tone in their remarks on the dramatic changes that were about to occur.
