Welcome to Marketplace’s daily, at-a-glance update. Like you, we're overloaded with info on COVID-19 developments. So here’s our effort to track a few critical numbers on the pandemic and the broader economy.
Keep in mind: The tally of COVID-19 cases represents only the ones that are documented. Since many remain untested, surely the real number is higher.

Getting internet access for all during a pandemic is not easy - Marketplace
As more cities and states ask people to stay at home, we are all relying heavily on our internet access. This means the digital divide is more obvious than ever, as tens of millions of Americans still don’t have access to reliable high-speed internet.
Telecom companies and internet service providers are extending service and offering free sign-ups. But there are still barriers, not least of which are regulations and rules against local internet networks. The following is an edited version of our conversation.

Fall fashion braces for the effects of COVID-19 - Marketplace
About 40% of the clothes Americans wear come from China. And because of dislocations caused by the virus, retailers are looking elsewhere to fill the supply chain gap.
For a suit, the materials (the fabric, buttons and zippers) may come from China. It might then get sewn in Vietnam.
“But, if you don't have fabric you can't make a coat in Vietnam,” said Gary Adelman, CFO of Texas-based menswear company Trybus. Trybus clothing lines are sold at Nordstrom and Kohl’s.
What all-electronic trading means for the New York Stock Exchange - Marketplace
Starting today, the New York Stock Exchange's trading floors are temporarily closed. Trading will continue during normal hours, but it will happen electronically. That means all those bustling traders you see on TV and in photos won't be working on the trading floor.
The NYSE says it's run plenty of tests and that its markets are fully capable of operating electronically. But NYSE President Stacey Cunningham says the market will be missing something.
