MECKLENBURG COUNTY, N.C. — Mecklenburg County leaders are expected to announce details Friday of a $150,000 ad campaign aimed at getting the public to take preventative measures against COVID-19.

Billboards, digital ads, social media posts, TikTok videos, memes, a website, and posts from influencers were all mentioned as possibilities during the county's business roundtable meeting Wednesday.

Text on an example of a post includes "stay at least one Kuechly away from others," Jennifer Appleby of Wray Ward told leaders, referencing the Panthers legend and future Hall of Famer.

Romanoff Wants A Progressive Upset In Colorado's Senate Race. Are Progressives With Him?

At this point a decade ago, Andrew Romanoff believed he was within striking distance of winning the U.S. Senate primary.

Michael Bennet was running to hold the seat he'd been appointed to the year before, and Romanoff as the dark-horse challenger had drawn close in the polls. Powerful Democrats saw him as a one-man threat to their plans for Colorado.

Today, Romanoff has battled his way back to a similar position. Once again, he has run a relentless campaign against his party's national leadership, arguing that the "unholy" influence of money has corrupted their efforts on climate change and health care. Just like in 2010, Romanoff has debuted a harshly critical ad against his opponent in the final stretch, and he once more finds himself facing off against an alliance of influential politicians.

The Trump War Room Twitter account argued that the design was a "widely used" image of antifa activists, though in reality, could only be sourced to an on-demand internet t-shirt shop. This is the act of dog whistle meme politics.

Dog whistle memes are a type of advanced memes that require additional knowledge to interpret. The term dog whistle comes from the way it could only be "heard" by the specific audience. Depending on the dog whistle meme, the audience could be a small group or call out to an entire political base. In addition, dog whistle memes have the unique ability to be multipurpose, designed to upset but also be played off as a "meaningless" joke.
