The authors’ research provides evidence that for “experience” goods– those where value is only discovered after consumption, for example a holiday destination, a movie, or new software — free trial campaigns should be deliberately targeting existing customers of medium to high usage. For this type of goods and services, relative to non-users, customers with some exposure to the product are more responsive to free-trial campaigns than other customers.

Amazon, Walmart Tell Consumers to Skip Returns of Unwanted Items - WSJ
Amazon.com Inc., Walmart Inc. and other companies are using artificial intelligence to decide whether it makes economic sense to process a return. For inexpensive items or large ones that would incur hefty shipping fees, it is often cheaper to refund the purchase price and let customers keep the products.
The relatively new approach, popularized by Amazon and a few other chains, is being adopted more broadly during the Covid-19 pandemic, as a surge in online shopping forces companies to rethink how they handle returns. "We are getting so many inquiries about this that you will see it take off in coming months," said Amit Sharma, chief executive of Narvar Inc., which processes returns for retailers.

What customers need to know about Loves Furniture's bankruptcy filing
It depends. If you're a customer who has paid and haven't received furniture yet, you should call your bank or credit card company immediately.
The Better Business Bureau said the situation is problematic for those who received their furniture, but may have a warranty. If that group includes you, don't expect that warranty to mean much.
Loves Furniture put blame on the COVID pandemic and the slow down of shipments from overseas. While that may be true, the new revelations of major financial problems won't help the situation for many.
