Ownership Changes Hands for Eastgate Crossing Shopping Center in Chapel Hill - Chapelboro.com
The Eastgate Crossing shopping center in Chapel Hill recently changed ownership, the latest in a recent series of shopping malls in the area to do so.
A report from the News & Observer on Friday shares Federal Realty Investment Trust sold Eastgate Crossing, which is located off East Franklin Street, in December. The move was part of a $170 million deal including two other shopping centers located in Florida and Washington D.C., with the Maryland-based realty company saying the properties were not part of its “future growth plans.”

And on Thursday, officials from Comcast confirmed that an Xfinity store is expected to open in the second quarter of the year at Hershey Square. It will be located between Char Koon and a state liquor store in the former space of One Cup Joe. The store is 1,600 square feet. The store is expected to open in the second quarter of this year.
At Xfinity stores, Comcast customers can pay bills and exchange equipment, and there is a showroom of products where customers can also learn about products and services.
