AA Smartfuel launches Shopify app for local retailers

AA Smartfuel is teaming up with digital partners Firebrand and Stitch to help New Zealand’s Shopify-savvy retailers to take advantage of the AA Smartfuel Programme.

According to statistics from NZ Post, New Zealand’s ecommerce market grew 25% last year. What’s more, Shopify’s market capitalisation rose by NZ$1.39 billion last year - but only 8,500 New Zealand retailers are getting in on Shopify’s ecommerce action.

Hawaiian marketplace Pop-up Mākeke partners with Amazon and Shopify - Tamebay

Hawaiian marketplace Pop-up Mākeke, established by the Native Hawaiian Advancement Council to support Hawai'i's small businesses during the pandemic has partnered with Amazon and Shopify. Pop-up Makeke will be launching for the third time in spring 2021 and Hawaiian Vendors are being urged to start applying .

The last two markets were said to have generated more than $2 million in sales with over 100,000 products sold making it a groundbreaking event that Hawaiian merchants wouldn’t want to miss. Vendor selections will begin as early as April 5th and will be chosen by an internal committee looking for products that represent Hawaii's diversity and aligned to Pop-Up Mākeke mission and brand.

Shopify reveals how pandemic has altered habits of UK shoppers – Retail Times

The purchasing habits of UK shoppers have changed dramatically since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, according to data from global e-commerce platform Shopify.

Skincare and alcohol were among categories that saw dramatic increases in sales as the country adjusted to spending more time at home than ever before. Without being able to stop at a café on the way to the office, coffee sales shot up 65% while tea sales grew by 38%. Many people also looked to enjoy their favourite tipple at home as pubs and bars were forced to shut their doors, with alcoholic beverage sales up 97% year-on-year.
