Most of the money will be used to buy advertising on television, radio, billboards, print, and digital media.

Work on the advertising project started last fall, but the Biden administration has been waiting to launch the education campaign until there was an increase in vaccine supply.

Health officials say about 80% of Americans need to be vaccinated to keep the virus from spreading.

Province launching $70k ad campaign to help ease vaccine concerns

Dr. Heather Morrison, P.E.I.'s chief public health officer, says so far, Islanders have shown a high interest in getting the vaccine, and she hopes the new campaign will ease any lingering concerns about the safety of the vaccines.

"There may be some concern by some to get the vaccine. We certainly think that that will be a minority of people who may be eligible that would be concerned," she said.

"But it's important that we try to talk about the fact that the vaccines that are approved are safe and effective and how important that we do this collectively."

White House to launch $1.5 billion ad blitz for COVID vaccines: report

The campaign will also educate Americans on where and how they can get vaccinated, and is expected to deploy celebrities and "trusted local officials" who some Americans may trust more than messengers from the Biden administration.

The White House declined to specify any further when the effort will be launched in response to an inquiry from Insider.

The poll found that 49% of Republican men, 47% of 2020 Trump supporters, and 40% of white men without college degrees said they would not get a vaccine when it is made available to them.
