Democratic PAC to defend Biden with ad campaign in latest sign of party backing

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Priorities USA, a Democratic super PAC with the goal of defeating President Donald Trump, is preparing an advertising campaign to defend Joe Biden, the latest sign the party’s establishment is getting behind the former vice president’s bid for the White House.

The political action committee, which has not endorsed any candidate, previously announced plans to spend $150 million on television and digital ads in battleground states before the Democratic convention in Milwaukee. But on Tuesday, the organization said some of the money will likely go to ads defending Biden against Republican attacks.

Bloomberg campaign says it spent over $275 million on anti-Trump ads, releases clips to public |

The campaign for the former New York City mayor said the advertising blitz, which was part of a broader half-billion dollar campaign to boost Bloomberg's presidential ambitions, was a key tool to challenge Trump ahead of the general election while Democrats were embroiled in a internecine primary battle.

"Until the Bloomberg campaign kicked off this effort, Trump had been running virtually unopposed in the key states that will decide the 2020 election. And if it were not for the Bloomberg campaign, Trump would have continued running unopposed until Democrats officially select their nominee and switch their full focus to the incumbent president," the campaign said in a statement.

The California Avocado Commission unveiled a new advertising campaign and marketing program to support this season's California avocado crop, which is now building into spring and summer, just slightly ahead of the commission's early projections for harvest timing. "Each consumer ad features the word 'avocados' with the 'CA' creatively transformed into an iconic representation of the best the Golden State has to offer. We're making certain our targeted consumers can't un-see California when they look at the word avocados."

Dem-aligned group launches ads targeting GOP senators over Social Security cuts | TheHill

A Democratic-aligned group is launching a multistate ad campaign targeting several GOP senators over the president's recent comments about possible cuts to Social Security and other benefits.

"Republican Senators gave their wealthy campaign donors a massive tax cut, and now they are coming after Medicare and Social Security to pay for it," American Bridge spokesperson Zach Hudson said in a news release.

"Susan Collins, Joni Ernst, Martha McSally, Cory Gardner, and Thom Tillis all voted for the Republican tax law that paved the way for these cuts. They'll now have to explain to their constituents why they are stealing from Medicare and Social Security to reward their wealthy friends," he added.
