Will January bring more hiring? - Marketplace

The last jobs report for 2020 is out Friday morning, and the results are not good . The U.S. economy actually lost 140,000 jobs in December instead of making modest gains as forecasted. It’s the first month of job losses since April 2020, interrupting a recovery.

But, with vaccines slowly starting to roll out , and the money from the recent $900 billion COVID relief package starting to make its way into the economy , could we start seeing some better jobs news in January?

(As readers will know, multi-member LLC operating agreements are, effectively, partnership agreements among LLC members about their LLC rights and duties.)

Since, over time, a significant number of readers of this column may want to form multi-member LLCs, the key points in last Thursday's webinar, set forth below, may be of interest not only to New Hampshire lawyers but also to these readers.

Who gets to decide what "feminism" looks like? - Marketplace

It was quintessential "I'm not a feminist, but . . ." a recurring and well-documented cultural shorthand in which equal rights were espoused but allegiance to feminist ideology was evaded. Swift, while a prominent example of this, was part of a larger cohort of pop icons who made similar statements. That same year, Katy Perry said at Billboard's Women in Music luncheon, "I am not a feminist, but I do believe in the strength of women.

Barbara Berg, a historian and author of “Sexism in America,” told Time after the VMAs that "[i]t would have been unthinkable during my era." Roxane Gay, who had just published her essay collection “Bad Feminist” a few weeks before, said on Twitter, "What Bey just did for feminism, on national television, look, for better or worse, that reach is WAY more than anything we've seen.

A Marketplace Without The Madness: These E-Commerce Vets Are Curating Your Favorite Online Brands

The founders of online mattress company Leesa are launching a marketplace with 100 direct-to-consumer brands like Allbirds, Untuckit and S'well.

If it seems like every day you get an Instagram ad for yet another brand you've never heard of, you're not alone.

"Direct-to-consumer brands are springing up left and right. It's getting harder and harder to discern which brands are fly-by-night and which are quality brands driven by a mission," says cofounder Matt Hayes, 37. "We are making it our mission to curate a lot of that."
