If you've spent the past few months indulging in everything from gifts to new clothes to more expensive versions of your favorite foods, shifting back to your everyday spending habits might be more difficult than you realize.

Which means that even a basic personal finance step like setting up your 2020 budget might not be enough to keep you from overspending. If you've gotten into the holiday habit of buying what you want (often impulsively) to treat both yourself and the people you love, well... that's a hard habit to get out of.

IKEA enters UK shopping centers market with London mall deal - Reuters
STOCKHOLM (Reuters) - IKEA’s shopping center business is spending 170 million pounds ($222 million) to buy and upgrade a London mall in its first foray into Britain, betting it can win over a nation increasingly doing its shopping online.
Ingka Centers, an arm of the world’s biggest furniture retailer, said on Thursday it would put a new format IKEA store at the heart of the 27,000-square meter Kings Mall in London’s Hammersmith district.
Alex Binzen: Car shopping with Vermont's new EV incentives - VTDigger

On Dec. 16 the Vermont Agency of Transportation launched statewide electric vehicle incentives . Families of four making less than $92,432 a year are eligible to save $1,500 on hybrids and $2,500 on fully electric vehicles. If your household income is below $63,000, incentives are doubled. This isn’t a tax credit; this is savings at the dealership or a check in the mail.
What the holiday shopping season meant for national retailers

Grim news continues to roll in for mall-based retailers, with several companies reporting declines in a key sales metric over the holiday period despite a broader rise in consumer spending, Bloomberg reports.
Kohl's, J.C. Penney and L Brands all reported drops in same-store sales, which is a critical measure of retail success. Macy's also reported a drop in comparable sales on Wednesday, although it noted improving trends, while Bed Bath & Beyond withdrew its financial projections amid weak results.
